Students from the IES-Amurga high school in San Fernando de Maspalomas have launched the educational sailing boat Canarias IV in the waters of the south of the island of Gran Canaria with the help of the Canary Island Oceanic Platform, to cross the Atlantic Ocean with the help of the Trade Winds and the ocean currents.

UNDERWORLD Project co-ordinator from the Poly-technical University of Madrid, Santiago Zazo, the sub-project co-ordinator at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Iván Pérez, and the PLOCAN sub-project co-ordinator, Joaquín Hernández Brito, presented the results of the research conducted into submarine radio communications as part of the UNDERWORLD Project, involving enhanced environmental efficiency and a technological advance.

OCAN is one of the entities that has been invited to sign a Modular Research, Testing and Validation Platform protocol for Technologies to provide support for a sustainable sea economy TEC4SEA, a unique and pioneering institution in Europe tasked with the mission of providing support for research, development and testing of technologies for the sea. The agreement was signed during the Business2Sea event in Porto.
