The 10th edition of PLOCAN’s Glider School brought together students from several countries, such as Canada, USA, Portugal, Australia, France, UK, Norway or Spain, with the six manufacturers of the available, operational submarine glider technologies, to remain as an international reference for high-level training on these autonomous, oceanic observation devices. The ten editions raise the number of students enrolled to 147 from 29 countries.
The 9th Glider School edition, a reference hands-on and training forum on ocean-gliders technology takes place at the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands between 30th September and 4th October 2019.
The SmartBlue project, which objective is to promote the competitiveness, innovation and internationalisation of marine and maritime companies operating in the blue economy in the Macaronesian regions, organised a conference in order to present the Blue Growth strategies of the Macaronesian regions of Europe at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Funchal (Madeira).
PLOCAN participated in "Macaronight 2019, European Researchers’ Night" that took place in Santa Ana Square in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, with the Educational Marine Robotics initiative EDUROVs. The MacaroNight project, within the framework of the European Researchers’ Night, brings together the Macaronesian archipelago in one single night where we share and show our common heritage, culture and past, promoting the future of Macaronesian researchers. It was celebrated simultaneously in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Madeira, Sao Miguel and Sao Vicente.
