Seminario medidias en el Mar

On Thursday 4th December, the PLOCAN headquarters hosted a new edition of the Advanced Seminar on Measurements in the Sea (ASMS), organized by INNOVA Oceanografía Litoral.

The seminar was attended by international companies reference in the field of oceanographic instrumentation as Rockland Scientific, OSIL and HELZEL Messtechnik GmbH, and joined by technical and research staff from institutions related to observation, study and management of the marine environment in the Canary Islands such as Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Viceconsejería de Pesca del Gobierno de Canarias and PLOCAN.

Taliarte, December 2nd, 2014.- Twenty two Secondary School students from the Stocksund’s Marine Institute (Sweden) visited the PLOCAN facilities today in the framework of a school trip in Canary Islands.

In PLOCAN students were briefed on the activities of the Consortium and received detailed explanations on the applications of ocean technology, such as remotely operated robots (ROV) or ocean gliders.

The students, who made the trip across Canary Islands on board the Swedish flag ship Älva, will sail for three weeks the archipelago waters in order to visit the islands of El Hierro, mainly for marine biology research, and La Gomera, where will study the formation process of "Los Organos".

The Stocksund’s Marine Institute offers education about marine science, marine biology, aquaculture, marine geology and ocean technology, among other matters.

During his, visit the Swedish students were joined by Inés Hernández Sánchez, student of CEIPS María Auxiliadora in Telde (Gran Canaria), recently honored with the Canaria’s Scientific Dissemination Prize by the National Research Council for a study about PLOCAN.
