The Macaronesian Marine and Maritime Network (R3M has since today a new operational unit for real-time monitoring of seawater biogeochemical parameters. An oceanographic station that has been installed in the port of Punta Delgada (Island of San Miguel, Açores) within the framework of ESTRAMAR project (Marine & Maritime Strategy for the Macaronesia) belonging to the Transnational Cooperation Program Açores-Madeira-Canarias PCT-MAC / 3 / C177.

The technical activity has been carried out by technical staff from PLOCAN in close cooperation with technicians from Azores Environmental Observatory (OAA), el the Hydrographic Institute of Lisbon (IH) and the Port Authority of Azores.

During this week maintenance works have been undertaken in some of the autonomous anchored devices that the Macaronesian Marine and Maritime Network (R3M) has currently in the Azores archipelago. Specifically, the activity has involved updating some of the main subsystems components of an oceanographic buoy located on the coast of Praia da Victoria in Terceira Island.

The work has been performed by technical staff from PLOCAN displaced to Terceira and have had the invaluable collaboration of technicians from the Açores Environmental Observatory (OAA), within the framework of ESTRAMAR (Macaronesian Marine & Maritime Strategy) project implementation.
