Foro Atlántico Funchal 2014

The capital of Madeira Island, Funchal, has been the place chosen by the European Commission for Maritime Affairs to hold on 17th and 18th March a seminar on the cooperation strategy for the next seven years under the Horizon 2020 framework program related to the "Blue Growth" in outermost regions in the Atlantic basin.

Under the name of Atlantic Action Plan, the seminar has had the presence and participation of political leaders and executives from both academic and business of the Macaronesian archipelagos mainly linked to the marine and maritime sector, and has had as main objectives to promote the identification of priority topics and the consequent future cooperation between different regions of the Atlantic basin in the context of synergies that result in the generation of projects in line with the priorities of the Marine Atlantic Strategy.

PLOCAN participated at the Oceanology International Forum, which is the biannual global forum where industry, academia and government share knowledge and connect with the marine technology and ocean science community, improving their strategies for measuring, exploiting, protecting and operating in the world’s oceans. The forum was held in London from 11th to 13th March 2014, with the participation of over 525 exhibitors from 35 countries, covering the whole range of marine technologies and services.
