Within the framework of the ESTRAMAR project (R&D&I Marine-Maritime Strategy in Macaronesia), funded by the transnational cooperation program Madeira-Azores-Canary-Cape Verde, MAC 2007-2013, a follow-up technical meeting was held this week in Mindelo, São Vicente (Cape Verde), between members of INDP (Instituto Nacional de Desenvolvimento das Pescas), the Environmental Quality Group from the University of Las Palmas (ULPGC) Chemistry Department at and the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN).
Personnel from PLOCAN took part in Geesthacht (Germany) in a workshop on the correction of data obtained by CTD sensors (measures conductivity, temperature and depth) located in gliders.
The event took place in the Helmholtz Zentrum from the 22nd to the 24th of October 2013, and it was supported by GROOM (Gliders for Research, Ocean Onservation & Management www.groom-fp7.eu). GROOM’s mission is to define in a scientific, technological and organizational way the European glider capacity required to maintain the appropriate and required levels for a sustainable marine observation.
