PLOCAN took part in Oceanology International 2016 in London. Held every two years, it is a world-renowned exhibition and conference for science and technology related to coastal and ocean monitoring, a rapidly expanding area of “Blue Growth” in the marine and maritime industry.

Oceanology International was held from the 15th – 17th March and included a broad programme of scientific and technical talks on themes that included marine technology for ocean monitoring, development of renewable energy resources, marine robotics, hydrography, geophysics and geotechnics, among others, together with a wide variety of additional activities and a large number of exhibition stands.

More than a thousand companies and institutions represented by more than eight thousand delegates showcased the latest products and technological developments in the fields of sensors, autonomous marine observation platforms and associated accessories, as well as consultancy services related to the use and operation of these technologies.

The presence of PLOCAN allowed the Consortium to publicise some of its principal projects and technological initiatives currently in progress (AtlantOS, FixO3, AORA-CSA, NeXOS, EMSO, etc.), and to promote the international marine glider school held by PLOCAN. It also enabled PLOCAN to network directly with providers and international partners with the aim of bringing about solutions to complex technical challenges in some cases, while strengthening collaborative links for future activities in others, as well as learning first hand of the latest technological advances and developments in the sector.
