The director of PLOCAN, Octavio Llinás González, and the Director of Business Development at the TECNALIA applied research centre, Fernando Quero Sanz, today signed an agreement to facilitate the carrying out of marine, maritime, oceanic and deep-water activities related to scientific research, development and innovation (R&D&I), technology, training, entrepreneurship, business development and the dissemination of knowledge.

TECNALIA is the leading private applied research centre in the country and one of the most important in Europe, with 1400 experts with more than 30 different nationalities working to transform knowledge into GDP in order to improve the quality of life for people and create business opportunities for companies.

PLOCAN and TECNALIA have established the existence of common objectives that allow them to consider a wider range of challenges, to lead nationally and internationally in their respective areas of work, and to better fulfil their aims. Through better use of available resources and efficient and effective management, identified objectives will be met and planned results obtained.

The agreement involves the extending collaboration to other areas of common interest including R&D&I programmes and projects; international co-operation, programmes for revitalisation and technology transfer to businesses and institutions; continuous and specialised training for corporations; actions, initiatives and projects relating to entrepreneurship and business activities; dissemination of knowledge in the fields of marine science and technology and associated areas; the management, shared use of facilities and any other collaboration regarding infrastructure and scientific and technological instrumentation; the sharing and exchange of services between parties and joint loans of services to third parties; and any other category connected with the aims of the agreement.
