This week, the city of Cartagena (Spain) hosts the sixth biannual conference on marine technology MARTECH, that with each passing event is becoming further established as the the leading forum on marine technologies in Spain.

The workshop shows the latest research and technological developments in disciplines such as marine robotics, operational oceanography, marine sensors, underwater imaging and communication, seabed mapping, marine renewable energies, aquaculture, structures and materials, etc., bringing together leading research groups and companies from across the country.

The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) is actively involved in this week's event with two communications related to underwater robotics: (1) Homemade ROVs - Make your own; and (2) Ocean Gliders for Maritime Surveillance.
