European Ocean Energy 2013

The OceanEnergy Europe 2013 conference has brought the most important European ocean energy stakeholders from the public and private sectors to Edinburgh from 29th to 30th October to deliver a strategy for harvesting Europe’s largest untapped renewable energy source: energy from the ocean. The European Ocean Energy Association has been working with the European Commission for several years to raise profile and explain the opportunities for a strong European marine energy sector. A direct result of this is the conference is high calibre programme and side events which make the event one of the most important on ocean energy in the European calendar.

The conference also featured a trade fair, which joined 14 leading companies in this emerging sector. PLOCAN installed a booth which showed the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands and its Test Site, sharing space with Bimep, the Basque platform for offshore marine devices research. Both platforms offer significant synergies in the investigation of marine energy devices at different scales and levels of development.
