The fourth edition of the Technical SessionsOcean and Renewable Energies. The contribution of the Naval and Oceanic Engineeringtook place on June 27th and 28th 2013 in Cádiz (Spain). These sessions were organized by ENERMAR, the PAT18 Working Group in Ocean Renewable Energies supported by the Spanish Association of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.

The main aim of these sessions was to spread out the technical and scientific capabilities of the Naval and Oceanic Engineering, showing the current actuations and relevant projects which are ongoing in close cooperation with developers, utilities, and marine industries; technological centres, academia and universities; shipyards, classification societies; etc. This event has become a reference point for the Renewable Energies Sector, boosting the cooperation among the participants.

Eduardo Quevedo, Project Manager of the FP7 TROPOS Project, led by PLOCAN, has actively participated in these sessions in the panel entitledOcean renewable energies, environmental aspects associated to its developmentintroducing the presentationTechnological opportunities in the new sustainable uses of The Ocean. The sessions were also integrated by other representatives of the public and private sectors, who are contributing in the TROPOS Project, such as José de Lara, main researcher of the TROPOS Project at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and Cristina Huertas, Business Development Director at Abengoa Seapower.
