02-09-2010. PLOCAN receives the positioning buoy for a wave power device at the Port of Las Palmas.

Developed in Barcelona at ANORTEC and designed and overseen by PIPO Systems and PLOCAN, the 9-metre-long buoy with a diameter of 2.3 metres, weighing 24 tonnes, contains a power generator and many of the autonomous instruments for measuring and monitoring that make up the wave power device. Once it is anchored alongside the rest of the elements that form the system, it will be positioned at a depth of around 25 metres.

The device will be assembled by the ANORTEC, PIPO Systems and PLOCAN technical teams and anchored in its final position (off the east coast of Gran Canaria) as soon as the necessary technical tests are carried out, weather permitting.
