On March 23^rd, 2010 at the sixth European Conference on Research Infrastructures (ECRI-2010), PLOCAN (Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands) was presented during the public events related to the Spanish Presidency of the European Union. The Gran Telescopio CANARIAS (GTC) was one of the other six infrastructures included in the presentations.

During this conference the role of the infrastructures was pointed out as talent attractors and driving force to innovation. Furthermore, the agenda for the ESFRI program (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures) concerning the research infrastructures in the UE, was enhanced.
