After a second positive sampling campaign whose main objectives were:

• Discrete hydrological samplingof 6 stations using a multi-parametric probe and in-situ samplingto depths over 1000 meters of temperature, salinity, pH, chlorophyll, dissolved gases and turbidity.
• The recording of more than 3 hours at 10 metersdepth with an autonomous hydrophone in the area.
• Continuous monitoring of vapor concentrations of H2O, CO2, H2S, SO2 and HCl in ambient.
• The collection of biological (fish) and geological (pyroclastic) solids.

The plan for October 18th isstructured as follow:

• Maintenance of the equipment and the sampling and testing facilities on board.
• General maintenance of the vessel.
• Transport of a glider from Plocanheadquarters to the RV Prf. I. Lozano at the Port of "La Estaca".
• Receipt and verification of operation for the deployment of the glider.
• Design and operation plan for the initial glider deployment.

Glider images at Plocan facilities:

Although these vehicles are still in an earlystage of technological development, and despite operating conditions in the area of influence of the volcanic event implies a difficult and risky operation, the configuration of the glider sensors should allow the observation of parameters covering greater distances, depths and continuity in timecompared to the conventional observation methods. This is an opportunity to test the technology and acquire unique data without a doubt. There are not known historical references with these objectives and circumstances.
