Oceans 2019

The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) participated in the OCEANS Conference and Exhibit, which is a bi-annual event for global marine technologists, engineers, students, government officials, lawyers, and advocates. Its objective is to highlight relevant topics and current trends, while creating a community of learners and influencers who consistently advance research, practices, and policies for the marine field.

OCEANS’19, sponsored by the IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (IEEE/OES) and the Marine Technology Society (MTS), took place between 18th and 20th June in Marseille (France), under the motto Let’s sea our future together, with an audience of more than 2,000 attendees, over 800 professionally reviewed technical papers, including sessions focused on local themes and more than 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations in products and services.

PLOCAN contributed to the conference with oral presentations related to ocean observation projects: AtlantOS, iFADO, EUMarineRobots and ECOMARPORT. Moreover, PLOCAN contributed to the dissemination of the AtlantOS project with an exhibition stand that was visited by a great number of the attendees of OCEANS’19.

º The AtlantOS project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 633211.
