Proyecto CAPITEN

The Director of Tourism, Heritage and Waterways for the Regional Council of Brittany, Ronan Le Baccon, highlighted the development possibilities of the nautical industry in the Atlantic Arc, which is established from Scotland to the Canary Islands, during the CAPITEN (Atlantic Cluster for Technological and Economic Innovation in the Nautical Sector) project meeting organised by CETECIMA (Technology Center for Marine Sciences) at the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands in Taliarte.

Oceans 2019

The Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) participated in the OCEANS Conference and Exhibit, which is a bi-annual event for global marine technologists, engineers, students, government officials, lawyers, and advocates. Its objective is to highlight relevant topics and current trends, while creating a community of learners and influencers who consistently advance research, practices, and policies for the marine field.

EGIM

On the 16th of June 2019, as part of PLOCAN’s contribution to EMSO, the EGIM (European Generic Instrumentation Module) was deployed on the PLOCAN Test Site East of Gran Canaria.

The EGIM, developed within the frame of the European project EMSODev, is designed to consistently and continuously measure parameters of interest for the science areas covered by the European Research Infrastructure Consortium EMSO, “European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and water column Observatory”. EGIM is able to operate on any EMSO node, mooring line, sea bed station, cabled or standalone and/or with a surface buoy.

PLOCAN gave a conference on environmental observation in the Macaronesian Region (R3M: Macaronesian Marine-Maritime Network) during the Meteorological Technology World Expo (MTWE), a global event attracting around 200 exhibiting companies and 4,000 attendees from over 100 countries, celebrated in Geneva, Switzerland.
